In the realm of pickup trucks, few names command as much respect and admiration as the Toyota HiLux. Renowned for its robust build, off-road prowess, and unyielding reliability, the HiLux has solidified its place as a true champion in the automotive world. In this spotlight blog, we delve into the formidable Toyota HiLux Champ, exploring its power, precision, and features that make it a standout choice for drivers seeking a perfect blend of strength and sophistication.
The Toyota HiLux has a legacy that spans over five decades. Originally introduced in 1968, it quickly gained a reputation for being a workhorse capable of tackling the toughest terrains and weather conditions. Over the years, the HiLux has evolved from a utilitarian vehicle to a versatile and stylish pickup, all while maintaining its core values of durability and dependability.
Although the Toyota HiLux Champ, a heavy-duty pickup truck designed for poor nations, has been formally unveiled for its home market of Thailand, an Australian release is still some way off. Toyota's low-cost commercial vehicle for Southeast Asia, the HiLux Champ, is a production version of the IMV 0 Concept, which stands for Innovating International Multi-Purpose Vehicle.
It offers purchasers an alternative to the full-size HiLux. The HiLux Champ made its premiere in December 2022. The Toyota HiLux Champ is available in short- and long-wheelbase configurations, with the former measuring 2750mm and the latter 3085mm between the axles. The vehicle stacks at 4970mm (SWB) or 5300mm (LWB) in length, 1785mm wide, and 1735mm high.
Muscular Aesthetics: The Toyota HiLux Champ boasts a design that seamlessly blends ruggedness with a touch of sophistication. Its robust and muscular aesthetics give it a commanding presence on the road, making it a head-turner wherever it goes.
Off-Road Capabilities: True to its heritage, the HiLux Champ is built to conquer off-road challenges. With a high ground clearance, reinforced suspension, and advanced four-wheel-drive capabilities, this pickup is ready to take on any terrain from rocky trails to muddy paths.
Engine Performance: At the heart of the HiLux Champ lies a powerful engine that delivers not only impressive horsepower but also excellent fuel efficiency. Three engines are available: a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel that generates 110kW/400Nm, and two 2.0-liter (102kW/183Nm) and 2.7-liter (122kW/245Nm) petrol engines.
The Australian-delivered Toyota HiLux Workmate models come with both the 2.7- and 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engines; however, the HiLux Champ is not equipped with the 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine featured in its full-size sister. Only the higher-output gasoline and diesel engines are eligible for a six-speed automatic transmission; the 2.0-liter gasoline engine can only be purchased with a five-speed manual; all Toyota HiLux Champ models have rear-wheel drive.
Towing and Payload Capacity: The HiLux Champ isn't just about looks; it's a workhorse designed for practicality. With an impressive towing capacity and payload limit, it can effortlessly handle the demands of both work and play. Whether you're hauling equipment to a job site or towing recreational gear for a weekend getaway, the HiLux Champ has you covered.

Better-equipped models of the HiLux Champ have LED headlights, electric windows and mirrors, and orange dashboard trim, while entry-level models have only two speakers, manual wind-down window handles, and vinyl upholstery as standard equipment.
Advanced Infotainment System: Keeping up with modern expectations, the HiLux Champ features an advanced infotainment system. From intuitive touchscreen controls to seamless smartphone integration, the technology inside ensures that you stay connected and entertained throughout your journey.
